Police Locate Fugitive Who Cut Catalytic Converter Off Chick-fil-A Van In South Jersey

Police in Burlington County say they have located a 29-year-old man who allegedly cut the catalytic converter off of a Chick-fil-A van.

Qabir S. Jones of Pennsauken in Camden County was wanted on theft and criminal mischief charges, Evesham Township police said. 

Lt. Dan Burdette, a spokesman for the Evesham Police Department said they had located Jones.

Jones is "currently incarcerated on unrelated charges out of another jurisdiction," Burdette said on Thursday, July 20.

On Aug. 7, 2022, at approximately 3 a.m., Evesham police responded to Chick-fil-A at 220 N. Route 7 for the report of a suspect cutting the catalytic converter off of a delivery van. 

The suspect had fled the area prior to the officer’s arrival, however it was confirmed that the catalytic converter had been cut off of the Chick-fil-A delivery vehicle, police said.

Patrol crime scene technicians processed the scene and gathered several articles of evidence, they said.

Through an extensive investigation, conducted by the Evesham Township Investigative Bureau, the suspect was identified as Jones, police said.

A warrant was issued for Jones’ arrest on Friday, July 14, they said.
